I was taken to Ms Jordan's prose right away. Then I started waiting for the romance to begin.

Lust is not love. For a romance novel to succeed, you have to give us readers the feeling that they move past lust. Hero is a bully and heroin is a idiotic ninny who believes she has to act tough and protect her.

It's your basic bodice ripper. I usually don't like these super-alpha hero's that much, but Ranulf was a little different.

He was definitely a man-ho before he met Ariane the second time , but he did not cheat on her. He finally got with it in the end and it I had my hopes up, with all the five-stars on here, but whoa. First off, this could've used a non-con warning- Ranulf's not only an 'alpha,' he's apparently one of those guys that knows better than the female lead about everything.

Including whether she wants to sleep with him or not. Second, it's just predictable. Even the plot twists are twee. This warrior wasn't cruel to her though at times I really expected it was coming. Less like those truly frustrating conflicts that have you yelling at the pages.

The storyline didn't move very fast but, an enjoyable read anyhow. This was a very nice book. Was a little disappointed at the hero in the end he became a beta hero after all the alphaness that I so loved about Ranulf, but this did not take anything away for the story or the romance. One of the first romance books I've ever laid my hands on. Overall it was a great book only reason why I rated it a 4 out 5 stars was because of the hero's opinion on women. I'm tired of reading books where the hero keeps thinking that all women are not to be trusted etc.
