Nintendo seems to be very fond of remaking and re-releasing Legend Of Zelda games. Many of the most beloved main installments have been released a second time in some form. And there are nine remakes and re-releases in total.

In most instances, these games have received simple graphical upgrades. However, some of them have received more significant changes, such as improvement in control schemes. The alterations have generally improved the experiences, and the developers have done well to keep the magic of the originals.

So, with all of these mainline entries, spin-offs, and re-releases over the years, there have been a total of 45 Zelda games. Whether it be a new entry with brand new mechanics, or some graphical alterations and gameplay tweaks - or the experimental titles - we have seen plenty of Zelda games, with many more surely to come.

Unfortunately for Nintendo, this newest Zelda game has been a bit more controversial than the games usually are.

For one, some fans were upset when they found out that Tri Force Heroes does not support 2-player co-op. On the contrary, the game either requires three people to partake in co-op, or players are forced to play by themselves and control all three Links. Another source of controversy stems from the game's lack of female playable characters.

The Legend of Zelda franchise has featured a male Link as the primary playable character since its inception in the 's, but due to the game's co-op focus, many were disappointed that Nintendo decided not to include a female version of Link. That being said, the game is certainly not subscribing to societal gender roles anyway, with Link able to cross-dress as Princess Zelda, for example.

That being said, perhaps Nintendo should look into introducing a female Link in the future.
