This book saved my life as an undergrad and allowed me to better apply economic development models and concepts in a modern context particularly to Africa- my area of interest.

I can't blame them. The text was originally entitled as Economic Development in the Third World , so expect a lot of heart wrenching stories! If statistics and what-not is your thing, you will probably enjoy it a lot more than I did. I just couldn't get interested enough to read the entire thing on my own.
